(KNSI) – The City of St. Cloud has named a familiar face to run the largest single department in the city.

Luke Langner has been named the new public services director. Langner currently serves as assistant city engineer, will transition into his new role with more than a decade of experience in civil engineering. The city says he has been instrumental in managing several major infrastructure projects, earning recognition for his approach and commitment to quality.

“Luke has consistently demonstrated the kind of forward-thinking leadership and dedication to public service that makes St. Cloud stronger,” said Mayor Jake Anderson. “His ability to build relationships across departments and other organizations throughout the community makes him the ideal choice to lead the Public Services Section into the future.”

Langner plans to make the department run better, update how it serves people, and encourage new ideas and responsibility.

“I’m honored to continue serving the City of St. Cloud in this expanded capacity,” Langner said in a press release announcing his new role. “Public Services is how a city shows up for its people, and I’m committed to leading with purpose, transparency, and a relentless focus on improving the quality of life for our residents.”

Before joining the city’s engineering department, Langner served with AFSCME Council 65 as a Labor Representative, where he represented public sector employees across 70 bargaining units.

Langner holds degrees from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud Technical and Community College, and Alexandria Technical and Community College, with studies focused on civil engineering, mathematics, and public communication.

The Public Services Department oversees a range of city operations, including street maintenance, water and sewer systems, parks and recreation facilities, and various infrastructure projects throughout St. Cloud.

Langner takes over in his new role on Monday, September 8th, 2025.
