(KNSI) — Two young women from the St. Cloud area will be vying for the title of Princess Kay of the Milky Way on Wednesday night.

Dairy Princess Heidi Montag was chosen to represent Benton County at this year’s competition. She loves cheese curds, politics and leading the youth group at her church. She is studying pre-sonography at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

Dairy Princess April Klaphake is representing Stearns County this year. She also dreams of becoming a medical professional after watching the birth of twin calves at a young age. Klaphake is a sophomore majoring in biology at the University of St. Thomas with a focus on mother and baby care in rural communities. The future doctor also likes golfing and playing pickleball.

Montag, Klaphake and the eight other finalists will compete to be named the goodwill ambassador for Minnesota’s dairy industry. Each year, the coronation takes place the night before the start of the state fair.

All of the finalists will get to have her likeness carved in a 90 pound block of butter.
