(KNSI) – An emergency drill is planned for Tuesday at the Monticello Nuclear Plant.

It will involve multiple city, county, state, and federal agencies and departments, so residents will likely notice the increased presence of public safety officials. The annual exercise is designed to test the readiness of first responders in case of an incident at the plant.

They will be put through a variety of exercises at multiple locations around the facility in both Sherburne and Wright Counties. It is scheduled to run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The tests alternate between Monticello and Prairie Island, which is southeast of the Twin Cities.
