CentraCare Hits COVID Vaccine Milestone

(KNSI) – CentraCare has reached a milestone in the fight against COVID-19 after administering its 100,000th vaccine dose on Friday.

Since January, CentraCare has vaccinated people from Long Prairie to Redwood Falls and Sauk Centre to Monticello.

CentraCare’s mobile vaccine teams have also helped reach underserved populations from Moorhead to the Twin Cities.

“When we began administering COVID-19 vaccine to health care workers in late December and then the community on January 18, we never envisioned we’d already be at 100,000 doses by April 2,” said George Morris, MD, Incident Commander for CentraCare’s COVID-19 response. “We will continue these vaccination efforts and look forward to adding to this number until our community can be protected against COVID-19.”

With Gov. Tim Walz opening vaccine eligibility to all Minnesotans over the age of 16, CentraCare’s goal is to get as many people vaccinated as possible, focusing on those who need it most.

Supply constraints still dictate CentraCare’s vaccination efforts, but they continue to schedule appointments as they become available.
