(KNSI) – This fall, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota is asking local businesses to Paint the Town Green to raise awareness about the need for more mentors in the area.
The campaign will take place between September 14th and 20th. BBBS is looking for area companies to encourage their workers and customers to volunteer. For restaurants to get in on the act, the organizations suggest creating a special green dish for the week. For other businesses, it can be as simple as swapping out their normal front light with a green one for the week or placing BBBSCM’s message on a sign outside their doors.
According to the organization, 145 children are waiting for a mentor, and some have been waiting for more than two years.
