(KNSI) – A motorcycle driver tried to flee Meeker County Sheriff’s deputies Friday afternoon, racing away at over 100 miles per hour.
A press release states the incident started as a traffic stop at Highway 24 and Meeker County Road 2 at about 3:30 p.m. The pursuit went for over 30 miles until the motorcycle lost control and wound up in a ditch near the intersection of County Road 23 and County Road 1. The motorcycle driver is a 38-year-old man from Buffalo Lake. He was taken to jail and is awaiting an initial court appearance.
Officials note the man was driving the motorcycle on a suspended license due to previous unsafe driving issues. It is KNSI News policy not to identify a suspect until they have officially been charged in court.
