(KNSI) – Big Lake police quickly responded to reports of gunshots fired in a residential neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
Around 1:00 p.m., officers received reports from multiple witnesses of suspicious activity near Fair Meadows and Driftwood Circle, with initial information indicating an individual had fired a handgun multiple times into the ground in a backyard.
While Big Lake officers and Sherburne County deputies were responding, they received additional witness information and a description of the shooter. The alleged shooter returned to the yard as officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.
The female suspect was found in possession of spent bullet casings and was booked into Sherburne County Jail on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
No injuries were reported, and police say this was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to public safety.
