(KNSI) – Come one, come all to the Crossroads Center mall.

A traveling circus has put down stakes in the north parking lot and is readying for a week of shows under the big top. The Do Portugal troupe has performed in seven countries. It is made up of one large extended family, many of whom were raised on the road, including aerial acrobat Eva Rodriguez.

She says, “I’ve been an aerialist for the last 16 years. It’s all I’ve ever done. It’s what I wanted to do growing up, and it’s my job now.”

Do Portugal is Spanish for “of Portugal,” which refers to the family in charge, not the country. Family is what makes Do Portugal unique. “It’s such a community and family-based circuit, we’re all related here. It truly is a family business, and that’s something very special to be able to work with family and people that care about you. It’s more than just a job.”

Rodriguez does the lyra, or aerial hoop. Traditional trapeze artists and tightrope walkers are part of the performance. Rodriguez’s favorite act, outside of her own…the motorcycle stunt riders braving the globe of death.

Shows run July 11th through the 20th. A cadre of RVs and trailers are already here. Look for a big blue tent to be going up soon. Tickets are available for under $ 20 if bought online through pre-order. A link is here.
