(KNSI) – Fist bumps will be flying, as well as the Life Link Helicopter, at the Benton County Fairgrounds on Tuesday.

The event is called Handshakes with Heroes and is free for everyone, running from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Organizers say first responders, law enforcement, and EMS will all be there with K9 demos planned. Life Link intends to stage a live landing. Kids are welcome to sit in the SWAT trucks and meet the men and women who keep the area safe.

They’ll also have a chance to try axe throwing and jump around in the inflatable bounce house. Free food is provided for those who develop an appetite.

At-will donations are being accepted to benefit the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation, but the primary reason for the event is to allow the community to show appreciation for local heroes.

The event was originally scheduled for June 12th, but had to be postponed for two months due to heavy rain. Tuesday’s forecast is perfect. Sunny skies and upper-70’s are expected.
