(KNSI) – Local high school athletes remain a runaway freight train headed downhill in terms of state championships.

Joining the party is St. John’s Preparatory School sophomore Margaret Duffy, who took first place in the 3200-meter race at the Minnesota State High School League Class A State Track and Field Meet Tuesday at St. Michael-Albertville. Duffy crossed the finish line in 10:54.63.

For Duffy, it represents a clean sweep in the event. She also took gold in the conference and Section 5A championship races in the 3200 this year. SJP got a second runner into the top 10 thanks to an outstanding effort from Duffy’s teammate, Louise Ruzanic.

Central Minnesota is quickly getting used to hoisting springtime trophies. Cathedral and ROCORI High Schools took home softball state titles last week.
