(KNSI) – A second former Rox player has made his Major League Baseball debut in as many weeks.
Jack Winkler played baseball for the Dons of the University of San Francisco and spent two summers in St. Cloud at Joe Faber Field. He took to the diamond for the Rox in 2020 and 2021. On Saturday, in a full-circle moment, Winkler was suited up for the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park, playing against the San Francisco Giants.
He went 0-for-2 at the plate, but had plenty of company. The fish only had three hits and still pulled out a win, 1-0. Winkler did not get a plate appearance on Sunday.
Winkler is the 393rd Northwoods League alum to play in the majors.
