(KNSI) – St. Cloud Tech High School’s graduation ceremony Saturday ended with an all-out brawl among a group of attendees.
According to a press release from District 742, the fight broke out near the back corner of the River’s Edge Convention Center. A one-minute video posted by Alpha News’ Facebook page and shared with KNSI shows a group punching and hitting each other, pulling hair, and at least one parent being knocked to the ground. RECC staff can be seen trying to break up the crowd, with disgusted graduates shaking their heads and walking out.
Officials say staff and police were able to respond almost immediately and quickly controlled the situation.
The district released a statement saying they are “both disappointed in and frustrated by the behavior of some adult attendees. This moment was meant to honor and celebrate our graduates, and it is deeply unfortunate that anyone chose to act in a way that detracted from that purpose. We are grateful that the actions of those involved did not disrupt the ceremony or overshadow the achievements of our students. Our focus remains where it belongs, on the remarkable young people who crossed the stage yesterday and the bright futures ahead of them.”
KNSI News has contacted the St. Cloud Police Department to see if there is an investigation into the fight.
