(KNSI) — As communities across the country mark Memorial Day with parades and ceremonies, one local community will remember a fallen hero, his love of physical fitness, and his dog.
Kort Plantenberg was a dedicated man as a citizen soldier in the Minnesota National Guard, a member of Rejuv Fitness in Waite Park, and a pet parent to his beloved German Shepherd, Max.
With the blessing of his parents, Rejuv is dedicating May 26th to a Minnesota 3 Memorial Day Community Workout. Warrant Officer Candidate Plantenberg and two fellow guardsmen were killed when their UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter went down near Kimball during a maintenance flight on December 5th, 2019.
Anyone can show up at the facility in Waite Park on Memorial Day starting at 9:00 a.m. and get their sweat on with the Minnesota3 Workout. It consists of push ups, pull ups, lunges, and different weight lifting exercises. There are two sets to participate in, and a two person team effort is also encouraged.
WOC Plantenberg’s life of service also included his career as a Corrections Officer at the Stearns County Jail. His mother indicated he would love to see the $15 participation fee going to a local K9 program, and organizers “will honor those wishes with pride.”
Competitors who aren’t members of Rejuv must come in and sign a waiver before working out. Preregistration is also available by clicking here.
