(KNSI) – The Waite Park Police Department has issued a traffic alert for the area near the Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility due to the huge response to today’s e-waste recycling event.

On 28th Avenue South and County Road 138, traffic is at a standstill. Drivers can’t use the route to get to Highway 23 or County Road 75 because vehicles are backed up into the roundabout. Police are helping to direct traffic and are asking the public to find an alternate route around the area.

The event lasts until 4:00 p.m. or until the recycler is full. People can drop off TVs, computers, printers, scanners, and other miscellaneous items such as VCRs, DVD players, smart boards, and more. There is a five-item limit per vehicle.

Phones, kitchen appliances, electronic razors, and outdoor or garden electronics will not be accepted.

The event is open to people in Stearns, Benton, Mille Lacs, and Sherburne counties.
