(KNSI) – On Thursday, St. Cloud area bus drivers will saddle up to participate in the 2025 Metro Bus Roadeo.
The buses will be bucking from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the K-Lot of St. Cloud State University, next to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on the southern end of campus.
Drivers will be navigating a timed obstacle course that mimics real-life driving scenarios. Competitors are scored based on avoiding cones, minimizing stops and starts, maintaining optimal distance from obstacles, and more.
According to officials, the area has a rich history of success. Metro Bus drivers have won the Minnesota State Roadeo 26 times, placed in the top four globally eight times and won the world event twice. Winners advance to the state and potentially international competitions.
Metro Bus has been holding the event since 1986.
