(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for a swath of Minnesota, including Stearns County.
The line of thunderstorms that blew through the area Monday morning moved out as predicted, and the atmosphere behind it is recharging as clouds clear out of the way and the heating begins. Temperatures are forecast to hit the low 70s with dewpoints in the 60s. That would allow for the heating needed for destabilization.
High winds, hail around 2″ in diameter are also possible.
The watch is expected to expand as the severe weather threat moves east.
The watch is in place until 8:00 p.m. A watch means that conditions are right for severe weather to form.
