(KNSI) – Members of the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division are celebrating a huge bust in Brainerd last week.

After getting a search warrant, they raided a home where they allegedly found over eight pounds of methamphetamine, worth approximately $30,000. They also say they uncovered marijuana, marijuana wax, and drug paraphernalia, including digital scales. The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking and sale of meth in the area. The owner of the home, 40-year-old Scott Heyer, has been charged with four felonies. He is also accused of violating the terms of his probation for burglary and assault from a 2021 case.

According to the criminal complaint, Heyer’s cell phone number came up in a separate case when they extracted a text message chain. It showed a woman paying Heyer $40 for a “smoke sack” of meth, which she is believed to have picked up from his home in early March.

An omnibus hearing for the case is scheduled for May 15th. Heyer’s bail was set at $250,000 without conditions, $125,000 with them. He has been released from the Crow Wing County Jail.

The LADID is a collaboration between the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Brainerd Police, Baxter Police, and the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department. Sheriff Eric Klang wrote on Facebook, “We remain committed to protecting our communities by aggressively investigating and combating drug and violent crimes.”
