(KNSI) – Kids 17 and younger will once again be crisscrossing the St. Cloud metro area on buses this summer.
Any child with a student ID rides free at Metro Bus between June 1st and August 31st as part of the U-Go Free Summer Youth Program. This offer only applies to the larger or fixed route buses. The organization will also print free ID cards that can be applied for by youth group leaders or other daycare organizations.
The Fixed Route service covers St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, and Waite Park. Some routes start as early as 5:00 a.m. on weekdays and run until after 10:00 p.m. They run to various city parks, museums, and other kid-friendly attractions. Metro Bus has a trip planner on its website that breaks down which routes will get riders where they want to go.
For those who have never used the service, there are resources to help. Metro Bus has a Travel Training Service staffed by guides who are ready to teach new customers the routes and their schedules. Lessons are held at the Mobility Training Center in downtown St. Cloud, 700 West St. Germain Street. The service is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays or by appointment.
