(KNSI) – ISD 47’s Community Education program and the Sauk Rapids Police Department are teaming up to teach kids how to avoid danger during summer vacation.
A Home Alone Safety class has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 11th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sauk Rapids Government Center. It is designed for upper elementary students, ages nine to 12. The course will cover six major topics, including how to avoid predators online, kitchen hazards, how to give first aid when needed, when to involve the police or 911, staying safe during bad storms and severe weather, and stop, drop and roll and other fire safety.
Lunch will be provided in the form of delicious pizza, plus First Aid kits will be handed out. However, the course does come with a price tag. Enrollment is $30. A link to register is here.
Many other area departments, including Waite Park, typically run a similar class. They have not announced times yet for summer 2025.
