(KNSI) – Drivers in Albany will need to use a detour instead of County Road 157 over the next couple of weeks during the daytime.

The Stearns County Highway Department will have crews clearing trees from Highway 238 to the western city limit beginning on Monday, March 17th. The project had initially been scheduled to start this week. The removal is in preparation for a project planned for the road this summer.

Traffic from the west will be rerouted to Interstate 94 using County Highway 11 in Freeport. Vehicles from the east are diverted to 94 using Highway 238. CR 157 acts like a frontage road for 94, so the effect is minimal.

Local traffic will be allowed through the work zone but the Highway Department warns that there will be delays. Each night, the road will be reopened. The project timeline could change depending on the weather.
