(KNSI) – Flames in rural Stearns County damaged a barn and a tractor.

Firefighters were called around noon Thursday for a building fire in Grove Township. According to the sheriff’s office, the owner, 38-year-old Jonathon Klaphake, could see smoke coming from a turkey barn and said a skid loader was on fire inside the building.

The owner had been using the skid loader to spread fresh bedding in the barn before the fire started. No people or animals were in the building at the time of the fire.

The Melrose Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Freeport Fire Department, the Sauk Centre Fire Department, the Melrose Ambulance, and the Melrose Police Department.
