(KNSI) – Flags across the state will fly at half-staff Saturday for a Minnesota native killed in the line of duty while working for the United States Border Patrol earlier this year.
The order from Governor Tim Walz is meant to honor David Christopher Maland. He was killed conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 91 near Coventry, Vermont, by members of a cult who are tied to murders in multiple states.
The proclamation applies only to state buildings but individuals, businesses, and private organizations are encouraged to do the same. It lasts from sunrise to sunset.
