(KNSI) — One person was hurt following a serious crash in Albany Township Tuesday evening.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the intersection of County Road 10 and 360th Street around 6:10. One of the drivers had not gotten out of their vehicle, and another had smoke coming from it.

Crash investigators say a 19-year-old man from Cold Spring was heading east on 360th Street and ran the stop sign at County Road 10, t-boning a 54-year-old Holdingford woman behind the wheel of a Jeep Grand Cherokee as she drove north on 10. The impact launched the Jeep a few hundred yards northeast of the intersection.

The man told investigators his brakes failed as he approached the sign, and he couldn’t stop. He was treated at the scene.

The woman was taken to Melrose Hospital for treatment.
