(KNSI) — A former St. Cloud Fire Department Battalion Chief has died.
According to a post on the Minnesota Professionals Firefighters Facebook page, Jerry Raymond passed away on January 13th.
Raymond served on the department for more than 22 years as a firefighter and EMT before retiring in 2021. He also volunteered for the Sartell Fire Department for 28 years. Raymond graduated from Sartell High School and St. Cloud State University before becoming a teacher and coached the track and football teams at Cathedral High School.
He combined his love of the fire service and teaching by becoming an instructor to new firefighters at volunteer departments across central Minnesota.
According to St. Cloud Minnesota Firefighters Local 464, Raymond served with dedication and selflessness. Officials say he was a mentor and leader to the department.
A celebration of life is set for Wednesday, January 29th. Raymond was 58.
