(KNSI) – Four St. Cloud high school students have earned one of the state’s most prestigious honors.

The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award goes to seniors throughout the state who excel in the classroom with a 3.0 or higher grade point average and participate in sports and the arts.

Apollo High School’s Harriet Johnson and Carter Kockler, along with Tech’s Sadie Zellman and Joe Marlett, have been named Triple A Award winners by the Minnesota State High School League.

Johnson is involved in cross country, running club, track, orchestra, solo ensemble, theater, Apollo student union, Apollo leadership, Interact, Knowledge Bowl and mock trial. Kockler participates in soccer, hockey, band and Apollo leadership. Zellman plays soccer and participates in speech and track and field. Marlette competes in cross country, Nordic skiing, basketball, track and field, and sings in choir.

Two award finalists from each of the state’s eight regions will be invited to a banquet in March and League officials will announce the four statewide Triple ‘A’ Award winners at that time. All 32 finalists will also participate in an on-court ceremony during the Class AAA championship game of the Boys Basketball State Tournament. The statewide award winners will also receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.
