(KNSI) — It’s the news snow lovers have been waiting for. Anywhere from one to three inches of the white stuff is expected over the weekend.

The National Weather Service says the models right now (Friday morning) show a weak storm system will pass through this weekend and bring some light snow late Saturday and into early Sunday morning. The steadiest snowfall appears to be along and north of the Interstate 94 corridor.
After the system exits, here comes the bitter cold.

Temps will fall starting on Sunday, and then in the early part of next week, we will be starkly reminded that it’s still January. Highs will be in the low single digits above zero. Overnight lows will be in the low single digits below zero. We rebound nicely starting Wednesday. Thursday, we should be in the 30s.

Feel free to take this with a grain of road salt. This is Minnesota. Anything and everything could change.
