(KNSI) – Sartell Fire Department is seeking volunteers to help give back and protect the community.
Requirements to be on the staff include the ability to respond to calls 24/7 while in town. Two firefighter courses and another first responder class need to be completed within the first couple of years. A physical agility test, the ability to drive department trucks, and living within eight miles of the Public Safety Building are the final preconditions for the job.
The department says that as Sartell changes demographically into a bedroom community, many residents work throughout the day, either in Sartell or throughout the rest of the St. Cloud metro area. This makes it extremely difficult for Sartell Fire to get volunteers who can respond to late morning and afternoon calls. Having daytime availability is extremely important for new recruits.
The deadline to apply is January 22nd.
