(KNSI) – Cold Spring City Council approved a $700,000 road project for this year to reconstruct two stretches of Main Street.
Administrator Kris Dockendorf says the motion that passed Wednesday will allow staff to move quickly to get started on a proposal that has been under consideration since 2023.
“Approval of bids would be at the February 12th meeting. And assuming we approve and award the bid that night, he’s got May/June to start construction.”
It will primarily affect Main Street from Red River Avenue to 10th Avenue North. A curve near the Sauk River is also slated to be redone. The project includes a full reconstruction, new curb and gutter work, and replacement of sewer and stormwater pipes.
The council split the difference for the evening, electing to table a public works item. The department submitted a proposal to buy a Versa-Vac trailer for roughly $275,000. The mounted vacuum would replace equipment used at the water treatment plant.
Dockendorf says the council wants to shop around. “They wanted to get another bid.”
The issue should come back before the council in the coming months.
