(KNSI) – Learning about your lineage could win you some cold cash.
The St. Cloud Area Genealogists is sponsoring a family history writing contest. Students in public, parochial or home schools in Stearns County are encouraged to participate. Students need to interview someone age 60 or older about their favorite memory of growing up.
Three age groups are competing: 4th to 6th grade, 7th to 9th grade and 10th to 12th grade. For each age group, three winners will receive $100, $50 and $25.
The project’s goal is to strengthen a sense of identity, improve research skills and discover the circumstances that shaped their families.
