(KNSI) – Central Minnesota’s first significant snow threat this season has prompted a winter storm warning.
The warning covers Stearns, Benton, Wright, Morrison and Sherburne County for all of Thursday, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. The National Weather Service says a winter storm is forecast to bring five to seven inches of snow to the region. The heaviest amounts are expected to be around the Interstate 94 corridor. Lesser snowfall amounts will occur to the south and west of the band.
Travel could be very dangerous, especially during the morning and evening commutes.
Strong winds will also cause blowing snow and potentially reduced visibility, especially across western and southwestern Minnesota.
