(KNSI) — A local company known for its giant signs announced news bigger than its 14 by 48 foot billboards.

Franklin Outdoor Advertising has acquired the billboard assets of Shoreview based Houck Outdoor. The deal includes 38 static boards between Interstate 94 in Clearwater, where Franklin is based, and Rogers, and along the Interstate 90 corridor around the Fairmont area.

It makes family owned Franklin the largest Minnesota based billboard company, as it now has 943 faces around the state and 28 western Wisconsin counties.

Dan Frankin called Houck “the perfect fit” for its outdoor growth strategy and will help it strengthen relationships with existing mutual customers and “build on the long-term customer relationships cultivated by Houck.”

Tom Houck called Franklin a “legacy billboard company” and said the feeling was mutual. His company has “long respected the Franklin family and their way of doing business.”
