(KNSI) – Sherburne County has set the dates for a recount in three races, including Minnesota House District 14B.
The first recount is for a four-year council term in Baldwin, which just transitioned from a township to a city. Chase Springman beat Alan L. Walker by ten votes, 1,064 to 1,054, triggering a recount. The votes will be looked at a second time on November 20th at 1:00 p.m. in the Sherburne County Boardroom at the Government Center in Elk River.
The votes will tallied again for the 14B state house race on November 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the Maple Room at the Government Center. Republican challenger Sue Ek appeared to be the winner in the St. Cloud area district by four votes. Almost an hour after Ek was shown ahead in the unofficial total, a dump of absentee ballots was reported to the state, showing incumbent Democrat Dan Wolgamott leading by more than 120 votes. According to Sherburne County, the absentee ballots didn’t get reported to the state at first due to an error by a memory card.
The final recount is for a spot on the Elk River School Board. The top five contenders are separated by less than one percent. Three will be placed on the school board. That recount will take place on December 3rd at 9:00 a.m. in the Maple Room at the government center in Elk River.
