(KNSI) – Project 37 will be holding a public fundraiser Saturday night as it continues its push to purchase a building at 27 7th Avenue North in downtown St. Cloud.
Formerly the home of Oblivion CoffeeBar and Mercantile, the site has been back on the market for the past couple months. Project 37 is the local chapter of the Independent Music Collaborative of Central Minnesota. It wants to use the location to host all-ages concerts and run a coffee shop that would be friendly to teenagers and young adults. The top floor would be for music lessons and office space for the nonprofit.
Project 37 estimates it will need $75,000, including $12,000 for rent, $35,000 for equipment and furniture, $20,000 for remodeling, and another $8,000 for renovations and licensing to reopen the first floor coffee shop. As of Tuesday afternoon, the online campaign had raised roughly $24,000. The group has until December 1st to close on the deal.
The event runs from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday. Coffee and dessert, live music, tours of the building, and a presentation from Project 37 on its plans are all scheduled.
