We are happy to lend a hand to a neighbor or other acquaintance. And a uniquely Minnesota thing is to be willing to pick someone up financially. WalletHub’s survey shows we would be willing to let someone we’re close to borrow up to $300 if needed.
Minnesota trails only Wyoming and Utah in the overall rankings. WalletHub used 17 different metrics divided into two main categories to compile its list. Minnesota was fifth overall in both “Volunteering and Service” and “Charitable Giving.”
Nebraska is the only other Midwest state in the top 10. Iowa and North Dakota are in the top 15.
November is an important month for charities in Minnesota. Give to the Max Day is returning on the 21st with early giving already underway. Last year was a near record with around $34.2 million pledged to 6,615 organizations across the state.
