(KNSI) – Volunteers are needed Friday to help spruce up downtown St. Cloud.

The event runs from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Green Thumb on West St. Germain Street. Owner Ashley Green will guide you through prepping winter-appropriate downtown planters that will be placed throughout the area.

The event is free, and organizers say you do not need to be a florist or master gardener to contribute. All they ask is for a good attitude.

The event is being organized by the St. Cloud Downtown Alliance. Officials say you can help support the beautification efforts financially as well. Individuals and businesses can sponsor individual planters at $75, a whole block at $500, or you can become a beautification VIP with a $1,000 donation.

The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce initiative runs until December 31st.
