(KNSI) – United States Capitol Police announced Tuesday afternoon on social media that a man was arrested after he entered the building’s visitor center under startling circumstances.
The suspect allegedly smelled like fuel, had a torch and a flare gun. An investigation is ongoing, and the agency is promising more information will be provided in the future.
The Capitol Visitor Center has been closed for the remainder of the day.
