(KNSI) – The Stearns County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Explorer Post notched a second-place result in an event at this year’s Duluth Law Enforcement Conference.

Teams were judged in 10 different categories, including arrest and search, burglary, crime scene search, domestic crisis intervention, field first aid, street decisions, traffic crash investigation, traffic stop, job interview, and a catch-all “unknown trouble” scenario.

The Explorers group is for high school and college students who are preparing for a possible career in policing. The competition is limited to 40 teams across the state. Stearns County was runner-up in burglary response.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office writes on Facebook that it is “extremely proud” of the young men and women who represent it in the Explorer program.
