Investigators: “Nothing Criminal in Nature” Took Place the Night Teen Was Accidentally Killed at Haunted Hayride Attraction

(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is releasing more information about a tragic accident that left a 13-year-old boy dead earlier this month.

Alexander Mick was volunteering at the Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride in St. Augusta on October 12th. He was in a section of the ride where actors come out of a cornfield and scare people on a trolley wagon being pulled by a tractor. Investigators say that the wagon somehow ran him over, but no witnesses saw what happened. Lifesaving measures were immediately taken, but Mick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The hayride operators are cooperating with investigators, who also say nothing criminal in nature took place. After the accident, the operators also closed the hayride for the season out of respect for the family.
