(KNSI) – State officials are warning about the increased risk of grassfires in Central Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Wright, and Morrison County are at high risk for fires to get out of control.
Burning restrictions are also in place, meaning; you must have an agency-approved permit to burn. Standard three-foot by three-foot campfires are still allowed.
The statewide fire danger rating is a measure of burning conditions and the risk of wildfires spreading.
The rating considers current and preceding weather, fuel types (grasses, brush, timber, and slash), and live and dead fuel moisture.
