(KNSI) – An October Halloween event has been one of the primary focuses of St. Cloud Park and Recreation Programmer Cassie Woischke since she took the job in 2022.

Pumpkin Fest became Fall Fest last year and it has been renamed again as Parktober Fest for 2024, complete with a rapidly expanding slate of activities. Woischke says experience is a good teacher. She shared a humorous problem that unexpectedly popped up in the past.

“Coborn’s is actually also donating some grocery bags, so people can trick or treat with them. Huge opportunity there. I’m really excited about that. That was a thing last year that came up is kids did not bring bags. They were kind of like making little pouches out of their costumes. So having a bag this year will be fantastic!”

Woischke is asking for help as Parktober Fest requires over three dozen workers. “I really need volunteers. I went, actually, and did a count. I had 38 separate staff, park staff and volunteers last year, not including any of our vendors. And that was just the perfect number to make it happen.”

It is scheduled for Friday of MEA Weekend, the 18th, at Riverside Park and will feature a pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, spooky games, a petting zoo, and crafts. Wild Country 99 is providing the music soundtrack.
