(KNSI) – A portion of 12th Avenue Southeast will be closing on October 9th.

The road will be shut down between 13th Street and University Drive. It’s scheduled to last from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and is due to a Fire Prevention Week open house at Fire Station Three. That station is the primary responder for incidents happening in Benton and Sherburne Counties. It also houses Airport Rescue Firefighting personnel as they are called out to the St. Cloud Regional Airport whenever there is a commercial plane touching down or taking off.

In addition to making the case for a new fire station on the city’s south side, the open house is meant to be informational and fun. This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!”

There will be live demonstrations and refreshments provided. The event is free and open to the general public.
