(KNSI) — A 32-year-old St. Cloud man is in jail after an alleged hit and run Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to a two-car crash at about 2:15 at Opportunity Drive and 8th Avenue South. One of the drivers involved in the crash stayed on the scene and told police the other driver was traveling at a high rate of sped and ran a stop sign before crashing into him. He told police after the crash, that driver fled on foot and was carrying a backpack.

A perimeter was set up, and a K9 unit was called in, plus police deployed a drone to help find the suspect. He was tracked through a wooded area and arrested.

Police say he was driving with a revoked license and had suspected narcotics on him.

Neither the suspect nor the other driver was hurt in the crash.

The suspect was taken to the Stearns County jail, where he is facing a number of charges.

KNSI does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged.
