(KNSI) – The first Coffee and Conversation event of the new school year is coming up on Friday.

St. Cloud Area School District Superintendent Laurie Putnam will meet with parents and community members on Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the district’s administrative offices in Waite Park. Putnam told KNSI News she’s found a lot of value in doing the sessions. “We love to hear feedback from our partners, from our families, [and] from citizens.”

The gatherings and conversation inspired the district to make changes. “Last year, we got some really terrific feedback that we implemented. Particularly around communication, and how we can be more effective at communication. So you see more videos coming out after that, and not always putting information out just in writing.”

They also held a session about how and when kids can learn the best. This is the third year the superintendent has held the morning public meetings. One will be held every other month.
