(KNSI) – The Minnesota Board on Aging included two St. Cloud organizations in annual grant funding to help fight dementia.

The awards totaled $4.4 million statewide, boosted this year by one-time funding for respite care. Because of this emphasis, A Home for the Day Adult Day Center was chosen. It is getting $40,000 to support community outings and caregiver education for family and friends.

The Central Minnesota Dementia Community Action Network is in line for six figures. DCAN was allotted $120,000 for a range of services. In addition to bolstering its comprehensive dementia education, the nonprofit will expand access to medical care and social services and help raise societal awareness regarding the issue.

Minnesota Board on Aging Chair Maureen Schneider passionately advocates for patients and those close to them. “Families dealing with dementia-related issues need our love and support. Sharing these funds with so many providers can make a difference for caregivers and those living with dementia.”
