(KNSI) – A St. Cloud man is under arrest after he allegedly assaulted someone with a baseball bat Monday morning.
Police say about 1:30 a.m., they were called to a gas station on 9th Avenue South to find a man bleeding heavily from his head. The victim told police that Dwight Eugene Jones II hit him multiple times with an aluminum bat.
The victim explained to police that he and Jones had gone to the gas station together, and after he came back out, Jones began acting strange. He said Jones hit him with the bat in the face and head and the legs, back, and stomach. A witness told officers they saw Jones hit the man in the stomach and forehead. Surveillance video backed up the story. Jones also reportedly told police he beat the victim.
A search of Jones also reportedly revealed marijuana in his possession.
He has been charged with 5th-degree drug possession and third-degree assault.
