(KNSI) – Five people were shot Friday night in Burnsville.

The city’s police department says on Facebook that it was called out to Red Oak Park at about 8:15. Officers found several people with gunshot wounds near the basketball courts. Three were transported to the hospital by ambulance, and one was treated at the scene. The last person came in a private vehicle.

There has been no update on the medical condition of any of the victims. Burnsville Police is still investigating, and there was a strong law enforcement presence at the park for much of Saturday. The public was asked to avoid the area. No arrests have been made.

Burnsville Police were assisted by the Bloomington and Eagan Police Departments, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol. Burnsville Chief Tanya Schwartz says, “Cooperation between Burnsville Police and Fire and our public safety partner communities is exceptional. I cannot overstate the importance of these partnerships, especially during critical incidents.”

She added, “We want to thank those members of the public who called 9-1-1 to report this incident and provided information on what they saw. They helped their fellow citizens in a time of need. Now, we are asking other members of the public if you know something about those who may be responsible to come forward.”

If you can help, call Detective Mitch Carlson at 952-641-1156.
