(KNSI) – The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out for support as the deadline approaches to raise money for another K9 officer.
The department earned a 2024 Central Minnesota K9 Foundation matching grant. Until Tuesday, September 3rd, the foundation will match up to $5,000 dollar-for-dollar.
The funds would be used for a new tracking dog, most likely a bloodhound. One of their bloodhounds, Aspen, recently retired and passed away.
The sheriff’s office says the dog would help find missing people and suspects. The department stated that adding another K9 to the team will help them better serve the people of Stearns County.
To donate, send a check to the sheriff’s office written to “K9 Matching Grant ” or scan the QR codes.
