(KNSI) – A 50-year-old Rice man was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital after crashing his motorcycle Saturday afternoon.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the crash on County Road 10 near 290th Street in St. Martin Township just before 1:00. A woman told police she was driving south on 10 when a motorcycle appeared behind her and what she believed to be a high rate of speed. She says the motorcycle driver passed her on an S-curve in a no-passing zone and continued southbound.

The driver, identified as Michael Anthony Czech, lost control of the bike after hitting an unpaved section of the right-side ditch. He was thrown from the motorcycle, and police say, was not wearing a helmet.

He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to the hospital.

St. Martin Fire and Rescue, Melrose Ambulance, and Life Link assisted the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office with this crash.
