(KNSI) – The University Drive bridge reopened in St. Cloud this weekend.
Fresh asphalt, brand new striping, and, most importantly, driveable lanes were available late Friday. This phase covered Kilian Boulevard Southeast to 9th Avenue South.
The reopening comes just in time for new student orientation and the upcoming fall semester at St. Cloud State University. The overall cost is $10.5 million. State funding allowed the city to do the entire project this year. Originally, the work was expected to be split between this summer and 2026.
The east side is getting updated utility lines, while the west side of the river has a new walking and hiking trail. In total, it runs from County Road 75 to 15th Avenue Southeast.
