(KNSI) – A downed power line caused thousands of people to lose electricity in central Minnesota on Tuesday.
The outage affected 4,865 customers in St. Cloud, Sartell, Clearwater and Clear Lake. The lights went dark for people around 1:00 p.m.
Residents in the Clear Lake and Clearwater areas had power restored after about two and a half hours. Power was restored to most of St. Cloud by 5:00 p.m., and the rest should have power by 6:00 p.m.
Xcel officials didn’t say what caused the powerline to come down.
